Joining during the pandemic
Moving jobs can be stressful at any point in time, even more so during a pandemic. Ruth joined our EAP Team in November 2020 and here she shares her experience so far.
I was a bit daunted at first, moving roles during such a turbulent time however when I started with Bupa I was really impressed with their organisation, professionalism and just how well they looked after everyone! From day one I felt supported. I had my laptop delivered right to my door along with all the other equipment I requested to make sure I was comfortable and healthy whilst working at home.
Going through an induction from the comfort of my own home was great, but it did come with its own set of challenges. The team were fantastic though, really responsive to our individual needs and I had a support network set up so I could work alongside some of the established members of the team to gain their insights and ask any questions – none of which was too much trouble for them! In line with COVID guidance at the time I was also able to go into the office for a few days, meet a few of my fellow new starters, get to grips with the computer systems and most importantly take advantage of the free cake!
Don't get me wrong, I had a brilliant induction despite the challenges at the time, but the team never like to sit still and think “that’ll do” so I was able to feedback all the bits that worked, or didn’t work to my manager. Not only so they could look at supporting my learning in a way that worked for me, but also so as a team we could improve the experience of any other new starters.
It’s not even been a year yet and I already feel part of the Bupa family here.
