The primary purpose of the IT Project & Change Manager role is to lead, oversee and ensure the successful delivery and management of single or multiple projects ensuring that these are delivered within scope, quality, time and cost constraints that may be clearly defined or may require dynamic change management. This is a hands-on role, looking for a self-starter, with strong technical, project and change management understanding, being able to shape the IT project implementation approach to achieving the desired business outcomes through delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define the overall delivery approach for each project, selecting Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid methods as appropriate.
  • Develop the delivery strategy, project plans, milestones, deliverables, resource requirements, timescales and cost estimates needed to achieve business outcomes
  • Lead execution of IT projects, coordinating internal and external meetings and ensuring effective day-to-day delivery management.
  • Manage project scope, dependencies, risks, mitigations, quality planning, assurance, compliance and control throughout the project lifecycle
  • Develop and control project budgets, managing expenditure within agreed spending plans and contributing to wider programme or portfolio risk management
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including shared services and third-party vendors, to ensure requirements are identified and integrated into delivery
  • Provide leadership, motivation, and coaching to project team members, junior project managers and business stakeholders to support effective delivery
  • Lead the business change associated with IT projects by applying structured change management methods, assessing change impacts and readiness, and managing resistance
  • Create and deliver change management plans and materials, including communications, training, coaching, sponsor roadmaps, and resistance management plans, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders and third parties.

Key Skills / Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Project and Change Manager, leading projects from conception through to delivery
  • Significant experience delivering complex IT projects and business change programmes, ideally within a healthcare environment
  • Advanced knowledge of technology project delivery, business change and project lifecycle management
  • Strong experience working in Agile and multidisciplinary environments, including predictable planning and Agile ceremonies
  • Proven success delivering projects on time, within scope, and within budget across multiple and large-scale initiatives
  • Experience in systems integration, migration, and implementation projects, including work within shared service environments
  • Ability to identify and manage risks, dependencies, constraints, and quality assurance activities effectively
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and client-facing skills, with the ability to adapt communication style to different audiences
  • Strong working knowledge of project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, Azure DevOps, and Planner
  • Agile, Scrum Master, change management, or risk management certifications are desirable
