Employee Spotlight:
Bryony

You name it, Bryony has probably done it!  

From starting in admin & finance on our bank (temp), 10 years ago, she is now our Home Manager at Eglantine Care Home. 

Outside of work, Bryony loves nothing more than to travel, her favourite spots being Vegas and Thailand, with her last adventure being a weekend in Dublin with her partner.   

After watching her mum progress through her 40-year nursing career, of which 23 years were spent at Bupa, Bryony told us she is inspired everyday by her mum; her professional growth as a nurse and her skills in the kitchen to produce the most delicious roast dinners! 

Through Bryony’s dedication to care, she has shown she is reliable and loyal. Particularly when stepping-up into new roles at a desperate time, to put her residents and home first (something we know her mum would equally be inspired by). 

Working within different departments, Bryony shared ‘I have been able to own my own career in care.’ Having the opportunity to transition between roles and homes, Bryony has expanded her knowledge and skills across different situations and environments.  

With aspirations of becoming a Regional Manager one day, she told us, “my professional development and working environment has help mould the person I am today.” 

Noting that a lot of her senior team have also had long careers at Bupa, progressing through different roles, she added “As an employee, I have always felt secure and supported and you can’t put a price on that!” 

After working 1-2-1 with her residents and their families, Bryony knew she had found her calling in care. 

She told us, having an impact on their everyday lives is the most rewarding part, “Being able to reassure families that their loved ones will be in safe hands and seeing those promises through is so special and makes me emotional to know that somebody is grateful for the work that you do.” 

“The bonds I have made with the residents and teams within all the homes I have worked at is like no other – I have learnt so much about who they all are as people, their culture, their background, and I have made friends for life - some with a 30-year age gap from me!” 

Ever the social butterfly, you could find Bryony out with her partner and family, most likely enjoying Italian cuisine or planning her next trip to Ibiza with the girls.
