Ivone
Over the 4 years working at Bupa, Ivone has progressed and built her career, recently being promoted to Sales Team Manager within our Staines office.
With a background in tourism and hospitality, she started as a Healthcare Consultant, this was her first time working in insurance and the private medical health industry.
Growth is something Ivone loves to see and be a part of. Whether that’s through her plants in the garden at home, her professional career achieving her Aspiring Leaders Apprenticeship or through her new trainees, “all the little things add together, and it becomes a bigger thing to be proud of”.
To inspire others, Ivone told us that encouragement and support helps people achieve. “I tell my kids, dream big and work hard, you don’t need to be the best, but you must be the best you can be. This is what I live by at work and reinforce this when mentoring new trainees.”
Living between UK and Portugal throughout her life, Ivone has met many people and through her work has spoken with many clients, she told us “I like to think I am that person that is kind to people, and I know how uplifting that can be,” which upholds our Bupa values perfectly.
Noting the importance of people around her feeling valued, she recalled her first month at Bupa “I felt heard, I love that you can be yourself at work. Being able to wear what you want (no uniform) – I didn’t realise how much more comfortable this would make me feel.”
In July 2020 (during the pandemic), Ivone welcomed her third child and discussed how Bupa had supported her during this “being at home with a little baby was difficult and unknown, however being able to work from home and set goals to achieve in the day, provided me a purpose and kept me going mentally.”
In her free time, you’ll find Ivone with her children, usually outdoors (when the weather is nice!) at the local farms, walking or scooting around!
