Being a vital voice
Jana's Story
For our Telephone Counsellors in our EAP team (Employee Assistance Programme) no two days or calls are ever the same. But what's it like working in a role where you get to make a difference to peoples lives every day? We recently spoke to Jana Collins, Telephone Counsellor, to find out.
Working as a Telephone Counsellor, I feel really privileged to be in a position to support people at a time when they need it most. I learn something new in the role every day and I feel as though I’m evolving and becoming a better counsellor in such an environment. It’s a rather special job that is both engaging and fulfilling and definitely something worth getting out of bed for!
I really appreciate being part of such a vibrant team that grows and adapts to trends. Rogerian core conditions of empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard are not only applied within the role but are embodied throughout the team too. It’s mainly listening to people on the other end of the line but working for Bupa, I also feel truly listened to as a colleague.
On top of this, there is a good life-work balance in this role which gives me the time to invest into my home life and wellbeing. To me, Bupa’s the place to be!”
