An ambitious Finance & Governance Placement Student working out of our Angel Court Office in London. With a hands-on role in ONS (Office for National Statistics) monthly vacancy surveys and significant involvement in various reporting and financial tasks, Martyn's journey showcases his passion for learning and dedication to the job.

In September 2023, marking the start of his immersive experience in the dynamic world of finance and governance. Transitioning from part-time hospitality roles, Martyn found Bupa's hybrid workstyle and employee-oriented culture to be the defining factors setting it apart. As he puts it, "Bupa’s consistent communication and sophisticated interview process showcased their genuine commitment to their employees from the outset."

At the core of Martyn's Bupa experience lies a significant project involving meticulous data consolidation and collaborative efforts with colleagues and senior management. His devotion to making health happen is evident through his dedication to facilitating the growth and prosperity of the firm, enhancing his Tagetik and Excel expertise, and sharpening his reporting skills. According to Martyn, "Diving deep into complex data has broadened my analytical abilities and provided me with valuable real-world insights."

Beyond the numbers, Martyn cherishes the camaraderie and work culture, emphasizing the company's generous and employee-centric ethos. An engaging memory from his time so far was his victorious game of connect four during an office tour, setting the stage for a memorable journey. He recalls, "The friendly competitiveness and supportive atmosphere created an environment where one can thrive both personally and professionally."

Looking ahead, Martyn aspires to complete his accountant qualifications and aims to join the Bupa Graduate programme. He credited the extensive learning opportunities, including LinkedIn courses, for nurturing his professional development. "Bupa’s investment in my learning journey has equipped me with the skills and confidence to pursue my long-term goals."

Outside the office, Martyn enjoys delving into literature, collecting snow globes from his travels worldwide, and showcasing his culinary talents through office-friendly meal prepping. He shared for him, "Balancing work and life is essential, and the supportive environment allows me to pursue my interests and hobbies alongside my professional development."

Among his favourite films "The Big Short” and “Everything Everywhere All at Once," and the band “Glass Animals,” Martyn's vibrant persona, paired with his dedication to learning and growth, encapsulates the spirit of Bupa, where he feels he can bring his full self to work.
