Sim

Meet Sim, our Head of Digital Technology, leading the way for the future of tech at Bupa. In-between some travel with work, she is based in the Staines office though works from home the majority of the time, accompanied by her dog, Oreo.

Before beginning at Bupa, Sim started as a Programme Developer, gaining key skills in preparation to join Bupa in 2015 within the Integrated Identity team. Sim then left us for a year in 2019 to work as a Technology Consultant, before re-joining us into our Digital team.

“I love what I do because I am able to serve my customers but also mentor the future of technology.”

Recently, we held our global ‘B Disruptive hackathon’ where Sim lead a team, to design and build a prototype within 2 days. Confident in her team’s ability she told us “I was told I needed to win by my managers and without hesitation reassured them they had no worries. We won and are going out to dinner to celebrate!”

Sim says she tell her kids, “Knowing how the tech works is so valuable – it’s the future!” She feels “it’s important to encourage this, as 20 years from now the world will be a very different place and the new generation will be leading the way”

At the time of joining Bupa, Sim had a young family and told us that Bupa offered a “better work, life balance” around childcare and gave her time to continue to keep active (of which she tends to walk 5 miles a day!)
