Step into the vibrant world of Shivalay, a Finance Graduate based at our Angel Court office in London, who brings a unique blend of analytical prowess and a passion for numbers to the Bupa family.

Shivalay’s role in the Transformation Team is all about juggling the intricacies of financial projects and ensuring Bupa's vision for change takes flight.

Working across Bupa Global, for our Dental, Clinics, Cromwell & Care Homes business units, Shivalay is involved with handling projects that drive change and innovation. In his daily tasks he might dive into forecasting, KPIs, and budgets, using the portfolio management. “I will look at monthly number and compare, contract and analyse to assess the story as to how and why they are what they are”.

This journey to the world of finance took a unique route, Shivalay studied Biomedical science at St Georges University of London, with the intent to become a Doctor. However, alongside his studies he ventured into a startup that specialized in crafting algorithms for the foreign exchange market. This experience ignited his interest in finance, economics, and the fascinating world of money flows, which led him to explore career avenues that blend healthcare and finance.

When joining the as a graduate in September 2021, this marked his first corporate job experience. Choosing Bupa as his employer was a decision rooted in values and opportunities. “To be honest I didn’t know a lot about Bupa, and was unaware of their insurance business and that they had a hospital, but knew of their reputation for caring about its customers, and learnt about their robust support network and a plethora of growth avenues, then made it an ideal choice.”

Throughout his Bupa adventure, he's moved from Group Tax to the Transformation Team, adapting and thriving in his ever-evolving role. “By the end of the programme, I should have a broad exposure to many teams, and this is something I am looking forward to”.

Not just a Finance Graduate; he's also on a mission to become a Chartered Accountant, and Bupa is playing a pivotal role in making this dream a reality. With 15 exams to conquer, Shivalay’s journey is a testament to Bupa's commitment to nurturing talent.

One of the standout projects that Shivalay spearheaded was the Total Tax Contribution project within the Group Tax team. Managing tax contributions from various markets worldwide, he ensured accuracy and transparency, reflecting Bupa's global reach.

What Shivalay loves most about his job is the flexibility it offers. His work patterns allow him to enjoy a work-life balance that keeps him rejuvenated. Moreover, his role at Angel Court offers him the best of both worlds: proximity to central London and access to a vibrant network of professionals.

Outside of work, Shivalay is a social butterfly. He actively participates in the Bupa graduate social committees, enjoys fine dining, and has a knack for discovering hidden gems across London. His adventurous spirit extends to his goal of exploring every restaurant and documenting it on Google Maps!

He is Sponsorship Director for The Chartered Accountant Student Society of London (CASSL), where he manages events and supports upcoming inspiring students, offering his guidance and advice on their finance careers.
