The Evolution of Love Working Here 

The programme started with something simple but transformative: listening. 

We gather feedback and ideas regularly, using a variety of channels to make sure everyone has a voice—from senior leaders to frontline employees. Every voice carries the same weight. What matters most to us is that people feel heard, valued, and empowered to contribute. When we truly listen, we break down barriers and can take action that really makes a difference. 

Twice a year, we invite every Bupa employee to share their experiences and ideas through a company-wide survey. It’s how we learn what’s working and what could make Bupa an even better place to work. 

In our most recent survey (November 2025), employees shared over 60,000 comments — that’s 20,000 more than the previous survey. That growth reflects trust. People believe their voice matters because they’ve seen action follow. 

The Five Pillars 

Love Working Here is recognised internally as the action plan that turns our people’s feedback into meaningful changes and make working at Bupa even better. 

The insights from our employee listening strategy helped shape five key themes. These became the foundation of our Love Working Here plan, helping us focus on how we grow, connect and support each other: 

  • Together - Creating a sense of belonging and celebrating the diversity that makes us who we are. 
  • Everyone’s Contribution Matters - Ensuring every voice is heard and acted on. 
  • Thrive - Putting wellbeing, flexibility and meaningful recognition at the heart of work. 
  • Connected Careers - Giving people opportunity and pathways to grow their potential through global working assignments, study tours, mentorship programmes and clinical exchange. 
  • Lead with Heart - Encouraging leaders to listen deeply, engage openly and lead with purpose. 

These pillars guide how we shape our employee’s experience. 

The Impact So Far 

The action plan is already making a difference. Based on what employee feedback, we’ve introduced: 

  • More flexible working options 

  • Better wellbeing support and refreshed benefits 

  • Stronger connections across teams and business units 

  • A range of development opportunities—such as our Clinical Training Academy and global mobility programmes—designed to open up cross-market career pathways and encourage collaboration across the business. 

We’ve introduced initiatives like Healthy Cities, which encourages our people to stay active while raising funds for local sustainability projects. We’ve also hosted Summer events that bring teams together and put wellbeing at the heart of work. 

Who Makes it Happen? 

Behind the scenes of Love Working Here is a community of Engagement Champions who are employees from across Bupa that volunteer to be the voice of their teams. 

  • They connect leaders with the frontline. 

  • They spark collaboration and culture. 

  • They make engagement feel real and human. 

Champions run listening sessions virtually so our people can share what’s landing well, highlight bright spots, and bring ideas to life in a way that feels genuine and inclusive.  

In short, they turn engagement from a concept into a lived experience for our people. Examples of activities our engagement champions have hosted are walks, lunches, and themed days such as the 80’s.  

In the End, It’s About People
