Stress Awareness Day

Stress is something many of us experience at work, with around 80% of employees reporting moderate to high levels. But not all stress is the same. Good stress can motivate and energise us, while chronic stress can impact our wellbeing. Understanding the difference is key to managing it effectively.

Supporting Wellbeing Through Personal Energy

At Bupa, we help our people manage stress through Personal Energy Sessions — practical workshops designed to recharge and build resilience. These sessions focus on:

  • Self-awareness – understanding what impacts your energy
  • Practical tools – building healthy habits and a positive mindset
  • Action plans – simple, everyday strategies to maintain wellbeing
Michele's Story

Michele, a Technical Customer Support Specialist Team Lead, found the sessions transformative:

“The simplicity of the sessions really makes the difference. Small changes , like improving sleep, taking breaks, and focusing on mindset, can have a big impact.”

Initially sceptical, Michele quickly saw how practical and easy the techniques were to apply. The sessions helped reinforce habits like journalling, taking time away from the desk, and building healthier routines — all contributing to improved wellbeing.

Now facilitating the sessions, Michele sees the impact on others too:

“Everyone takes something different away. It helps people reflect, reset, and make positive changes.”

Tips for Managing Stress

  • Understand what gives and drains your energy
  • Take regular breaks and step away from screens
  • Get outside, move, and reset
  • Start small and build sustainable habits
  • Action plans – simple, everyday strategies to maintain wellbeing
