Job Purpose
Our resident’s safety and enjoyment is of paramount importance to us, in this role you will be providing a transport system of scheduled transport for residents to attend outings and day trips.
Carry out scheduled checks on all company vehicles, recording checks on appropriate documentation.
Supporting residents to get on and off the vehicle safely in conjunction with mandatory moving and handling training.
Joining in with the activities whilst at the trip location, supporting the carers and activities team.
Responsibilities and Activities
In conjunction with the Outings Coordinator and Care Home Activities Team, organise and facilitate a daily transport schedule for residents to be taken on and brought back from outings and trips.
Report any vehicle defects as soon as identified and, if necessary, investigate and report findings.
Ensure that the Company vehicles are cleaned inside and out on a weekly basis, or sooner if necessary. Arrange for vehicles to be valeted as required.
Ensure that all vehicles have an adequate supply of fuel in the tank, using agreed suppliers. Complete journey logs each time vehicles are used.
Ensure vehicle security – that vehicles are locked and that alarms are activated when parking.
Be aware of tax and MOT certificate dates; communicating with the coordinator near due dates.
Be prepared to work flexibly when needed.
Attend mandatory training as determined by the Company.
Comply with the Organisation’s guidance, policies, and procedures at all times.
Perform such duties as may be reasonably required.
Successful completion of MIDAS training and subsequent refresher training and confident and conformable in operating the tail lift.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Required:
A full, clean UK driving licence.
Good eyesight
Skills:
A skilled, patient and responsible driver.
A confident communicator at all levels with excellent people skills.
Professional, neat appearance.
Ability to manage own time, prioritising, planning, and organising work appropriately.
A “Can Do” flexible and adaptable approach.
Attention to detail.
Work on own initiative, unsupervised.
Desirable:
A holder of a PSV License and CPC qualification and a D1/ D1E entitlement
Previous experience of working in a customer-focussed environment.
Previous experience of driving groups of people.
Previous experience of using wheelchair restraint systems and vehicle tail-lifts.
First aid trained (or willingness to obtain qualification)
Previous experience of supporting people living with dementia, or with physical, developmental, behavioural/emotional, sensory-impaired needs.
