How you'll help us make health happen.
As Breast Service Secretary, you'll play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care within our Breast department. Working closely with Radiologists, Surgeons and the wider multidisciplinary team, you'll ensure clinics run smoothly, patients feel supported, and information flows accurately and efficiently across both symptomatic and screening pathways.
Your organisation, attention to detail and compassionate approach will directly contribute to a positive patient experience and the effective running of a highly specialised service. By maintaining accurate records, coordinating appointments and acting as a central point of contact, you'll help us deliver safe, timely and excellent care when it matters most.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the Breast Unit
Manage and maintain accurate, confidential patient records in line with data protection and hospital policies
Coordinate and schedule patient appointments, surgeries and procedures across screening and symptomatic pathways
Retrieve, send and manage imaging to support clinic delivery in real time
Act as a central point of contact for internal and external enquiries, including patients and families
Facilitate effective communication across the multidisciplinary team
Enter, update and manage patient data on electronic clinical systems (including RIS)
Prepare reports, documentation and statistical information as required
Transcribe medical dictation accurately and in a timely manner
Support clinic flow by assisting with waiting area coordination
Respond to patient enquiries with professionalism and empathy, including occasional chaperoning duties
Support billing and charging processes where required
Monitor office supplies, equipment and document delivery to medical records
Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure seamless service delivery
Key Skills / Qualifications:
Previous secretarial or administrative role - Desirable
Healthcare/clinical environment experience - Desirable
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality
Confident communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
A professional, calm and patient-focused approach
