As a Senior Radiographer, you'll play a vital role in delivering outstanding imaging services and ensuring every patient receives safe, compassionate, and high‑quality care. Using your advanced technical expertise and clinical judgement, you'll support accurate diagnosis and treatment across a wide range of imaging modalities.
You'll work autonomously while also being a key member of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, acting as a clinical role model and supporting the development of colleagues. Your commitment to best practice, patient safety and service improvement will directly contribute to positive patient experiences and excellent clinical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver timely, high‑quality radiographic examinations in line with IR(ME)R regulations, local rules and radiation protection policies
Work across all areas of the General Imaging Department, including CT, MRI, Theatre, Fluoroscopy, General X‑ray and DEXA
Safely operate and maintain complex imaging equipment, maintaining competencies through departmental rotation
Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, carers, referrers and colleagues, ensuring informed consent and patient reassurance
Accurately complete all legal documentation on RIS and PACS, including image transfer and IEP requests
Participate fully in the on‑call rota and weekend MRI service once competent
Lead and manage day‑to‑day workflow within designated clinical areas, acting as department lead on a rotational basis
Actively contribute to quality assurance programmes, audits, incident reporting and service improvement initiatives
Support the induction, training and development of junior staff and new starters
Maintain your own CPD and contribute to protocol development and evidence‑based practice
Key Skills / Qualifications:
Essential
BSc in Radiography (or equivalent)
HCPC registration
Minimum of 4 years' post‑qualification experience
Postgraduate training and/or experience in CT and/or MRI
Excellent communication skills and strong patient‑focused approach
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Desirable
Private sector Experience
IV Cannulation certification
Experience in clinical audit and quality assurance programmes
