Ad hoc role to cover absences (sickness & annual leave) as well as busy periods

This role covers MSK outpatients. You are a highly skilled and keen physiotherapist able to undertake all aspects of your clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner. You will provide a client-centred and evidence-based service to adult and very occasionally older teenager patients. You will provide assessment and treatment to a caseload of patients with varied and often complex MSK needs.

This post provides a client-centred and evidence-based assessment, treatment and discharge planning to a caseload of adults with varied and often complex MSK needs. The caseload may include equipment fitting for example Aircast boots, crutches and braces.


You will be expected to establish and maintain efficient communication within the multi-disciplinary team (both internal and external) to ensure a holistic and complete duty of care. This includes verbal, non-verbal or written communication, both in expression and active listening, to facilitate accurate comprehension of information.

You will act as a resource of specialist advice for patients, clients and colleagues within the scope of your experience and knowledge.

It would be desirable to have prior experience in sports injuries, pelvic health, acupuncture, shockwave therapy and/or TMJ assessment and treatment.

How you'll help us make health happen:

  • To be responsible for the physiotherapy management of the patient load assigned to you and to practise as an accountable professional using reflective practise and clinical reasoning in undertaking specialist assessment in order to provide individualised treatment programmes for each patient.
  • To obtain informed, valid consent on an ongoing basis which endeavours to keep them involved in their own health care plan. This includes education to support ongoing management.
  • To provide programmes of care for the MSK patients in your care through assessment and implementation of specialist MSK treatments in order to maximise their rehabilitation outcomes.
  • To advocate for your patients in the multi-disciplinary team.
  • To provide appropriate information, education and support for your client group and their carers.
  • To comply with confidentiality policies as set out by Cromwell Hospital, HCPC and the CSP.

Key Skills/Qualifications needed for this role:

  • Degree in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC Registration
  • Proven experience, competence and confidence in MSK conditions of varying nature.
  • Confidence and ability to work unsupervised.
  • Commitment to multi-disciplinary teamwork.
  • Evidence of CPD.
  • UK healthcare experience.
  • Proficient in the use of a PC, including the use of software and systems
  • Good communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent telephone manner.
  • Able to work on own initiative, prioritise work and meet deadlines.
  • Good timekeeping and prepared to be flexible.
