Healthcare Assistant /Phlebotomist (Adult Outpatient Department)

Cromwell Hospital, London SW5 0TU

Hours 37.5 hours per week (1 Year Fixed Term Contract)

Paying from £30, 960 - £32,510 per annum dependent on experience

Role Overview:

As a Healthcare Assistant you will contribute to the delivery of holistic care needs to the patients and family, providing support within the team in ensuring a high standard of nursing care. You will provide support to the team and work under the Leadership of the registered nurses.

What you'll do:

  • Provide high quality physical and psychological Care with Compassion
  • Confidently and safely Communicate patients care needs.
  • Have the Courage to speak up and Commitment to be a patient advocate.
  • Participate in the delivery of a consistent, safe service in all aspects of the patient journey, from greeting and orientating through to discharge, whilst demonstrating a culture of customer service.
  • Provide holistic nursing care interventions as directed, ensuring patients optimum care needs are met, including hygiene, elimination, and mobility, and assisting patients with eating and drinking when required.
  • Undertake clinical duties in any area that is reasonably requested ensuring that you practice within your achieved competencies and abilities reporting any changes or concerns to the nurse in charge.
  • Assist with collection and transportation of specimens.
  • Maintain up to date care records and observations charts.
  • Refer patients, relatives, and colleagues' queries to the appropriate staff.
  • Enter requests on the computer and assist the receptionist and nursing staff with any other clerical duties when required.
  • Attend relevant team meetings and case reviews.
  • Adopt a flexible approach to the day to day running of the department and the rota.
  • Have a working knowledge of emergency policies including cardiac arrest and fire.
  • Work within other areas of the hospital as required.

What you'll bring:

  • Experience working as a Healthcare Assistant on a ward or outpatient setting (essential)
  • NVQ in health and social care or Care Certificate
  • Basic Life Support Trained
  • Have a desire to develop both professionally and personally
  • NVQ Level 2 (Direct Patient Care) or equivalent
  • Competent in written and oral English
  • Competent with Venepuncture and Phlebotomy
