At Bupa, we're here to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives - and to create a better world. That's why our Young Persons Talking Therapies Team plays such an important part in what we do.

As a Remote Counsellor/Psychotherapist in the young persons department, you'll support children and adolescents aged 11-17 by offering high‑quality therapeutic care through safe, effective, and compassionate online sessions.

This role matters because the support you provide helps young people build resilience, confidence and improved emotional wellbeing. You'll be joining a team driven by care, clinical excellence, and the belief that mental health support should be clear, warm, and accessible. Your expertise will help shape the right pathway of care for each young person and their family.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver remote counselling to young people, offering short, medium, or longer‑term support depending on their needs.

  • Complete assessments and formulations to determine the right evidence‑based interventions and care pathways.

  • Provide therapy via video sessions while working within Bupa's clinical governance and case‑management processes.

  • Communicate effectively with key stakeholders such as parents, carers, schools, and local authorities when appropriate.

  • Offer risk assessment, safeguarding awareness, and safety planning with support from senior clinical leads where needed.

  • Signpost or refer onward when another service or treatment is more suitable.

  • Provide occasional adult counselling support when business needs require it.

  • Lead wellbeing workshops or psychoeducation sessions online for groups where appropriate.

  • Work autonomously while collaborating with colleagues across our clinical and operational teams.

  • Attend supervision, team meetings and continuous professional development in line with Bupa and your professional body requirements.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

  • Is fully accredited with BACP, NCPS or UKCP.

  • Has at least 450 supervised counselling hours and significant experience working with children or adolescents.

  • Brings at least three years of post‑qualification clinical experience, with two years dedicated to young people's mental health.

  • Has strong IT skills and confidence using electronic medical record systems.

  • Demonstrates excellent communication, clinical judgement, and the ability to work independently while managing a structured caseload.

  • Can adapt to the needs of young people with warmth, clarity and professional empathy.

Desirable:

  • Additional training or accreditation in specialist psychological treatment areas, leadership experience, or incident‑support training.
