At Bupa, we're here to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives and make a better world. As an SME Account Manager, you'll play a key part in that purpose by building strong, trusted relationships with small and medium‑sized customers and the authorised brokers who support them.
You'll proactively manage an existing portfolio of international health insurance plans, protecting customer renewals, growing accounts, and uncovering new opportunities through regular contact, referrals, and attending events. In this targeted role you'll be empowered to resolve customer issues within clear guidelines and keep customers informed every step of the way-so they feel cared for and confident in their cover.
Key Responsibilities
Retain and grow a portfolio of SME health insurance customers (direct and via brokers) in line with agreed targets.
Manage all aspects of assigned accounts: renewal, retention, expansion, pricing conversations and debt management.
Provide outstanding customer care-own day‑to‑day account issues, follow best‑practice processes, coordinate with teams, and update customers clearly.
Keep product and service knowledge current so you can consultatively explain our cover to group administrators
Hold regular face‑to‑face or video meetings with customer groups; build relationships that lead to ”win‑win” solutions for customers and Bupa Global.
Renew and secure group schemes in good time; maintain accurate, up‑to‑date customer records that meet regulatory standards.
Plan and prioritise workload to meet email and phone service levels; complete admin tasks within deadlines.
Share competitor insights with colleagues; take part in training, coaching and self‑development to continually improve your sales techniques.
Handle complaints confidently and escalate when needed; act with care, fairness and in line with UK or relevant overseas regulatory requirements.
What We're Looking For
Proven experience managing a customer portfolio with regular in‑person or video contact.
Excellent negotiation and presentation skills; articulate, self‑motivated and numerate.
Solid Microsoft skills and confidence working across systems; strong time‑management.
Clear, consultative communication-able to explain products in everyday language.
Good geographical awareness and global mindset, including sensitivity to cultural drivers and time zones.
Desirable: knowledge of the healthcare market and Bupa Global products; an additional language is a plus.
