Job Description:

Chief Information Officer - Group & BGIUK Functions

Angel Court, London

Permanent - Full time - Hybrid

We make health happen

At Bupa, our purpose is simple but powerful: helping people live longer, healthier, happier lives and making a better world. With no shareholders, we reinvest our profits back into improving care, services and experiences for our customers and colleagues.

As Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Group & BGIUK Functions, you'll play a vital role in making that purpose real. This is a senior leadership role shaping the technology strategy that supports our People, Finance and Corporate Functions across the UK and Group. Your work will help create resilient, secure and modern technology platforms that enable colleagues to do their best work every day - ultimately supporting better health outcomes.

You'll lead long-term transformation, modernising legacy systems, strengthening resilience, improving financial controls and embedding product‑led ways of working. With responsibility for significant technology investment and complex partner ecosystems, this role offers the scale, influence and challenge expected of a Chief Information Officer operating at enterprise level.

Key responsibilities

As Chief Information Officer for Group & BGIUK Functions, you'll:

  • Define and deliver the long-term technology strategy for People, Finance and wider corporate functions
  • Shape multi‑year roadmaps that simplify technology, automate processes and enable data‑driven decision making
  • Act as an executive partner to senior leaders, ensuring technology is a true enabler of transformation
  • Lead large, multi‑location technology teams, building inclusive, high‑performing cultures
  • Champion product‑centric, customer‑focused ways of working and continuous improvement
  • Oversee platforms supporting Finance, People, Legal, Risk, Procurement and Corporate Affairs
  • Ensure high levels of resilience, security, regulatory compliance and operational stability
  • Own key supplier relationships and optimise commercial value across a complex vendor landscape
  • Lead the rationalisation and standardisation of systems to reduce complexity and improve sustainability

What we're looking for

We're looking for an experienced Chief Information Officer or senior technology leader who brings:

  • Executive-level technology leadership experience in large, complex and ideally regulated organisations
  • A strong track record delivering transformation across Finance, People or corporate functions
  • Commercial confidence, including investment planning, supplier management and value optimisation
  • Experience leading distributed teams through change with clarity and care
  • A collaborative style, with the ability to influence at board and executive level
  • Experience working in agile or product‑based delivery environments
  • A clear understanding of resilience, operational risk and compliance expectations

Benefits

Our benefits are designed to make health happen for our people. Viva is our global wellbeing programme and includes all aspects of our health - from mental and physical, to financial, social and environmental wellbeing. We support flexible working and have a range of family friendly benefits.

Joining Bupa in this role you will receive the following benefits and more:

  • 25 days holiday, increasing through length of service, with the option to buy or sell
  • Enhanced pension and life insurance
  • Private medical insurance
  • Access to our health and wellbeing services
  • Discounts on Bupa products and services
