We make health happen!

At Bupa, we're here to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives and make a better world. As a health insurer and provider with no shareholders, our customers always come first. As Head of Identity Security and Trust, you'll lead the development of Bupa's identity-first security approach, supporting both internal and customer identity needs.

Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Trust are the foundation of our digital services and are essential to the success of our Savannah 27 strategy. They underpin how we securely connect people to the health services and the data they need, while protecting against fraud and unauthorised access, and safeguarding Bupa's most critical assets.

You will collaborate with Group and our Market Units to develop frameworks, standards, and strategic roadmaps that establish secure customer identity practices and internal identity management to address identity-based threats and support data and AI initiatives.

This role requires experience defining strategic approaches to identity at scale and working at senior management level. As such, experience implementing or managing IAM solutions would not be sufficient for this role.

How you'll help us make health happen:

  • Act as Bupa's Group SME on Identity and Trust

  • Lead the development of CIAM and IAM standards, guidance and best practices

  • Design and maintain group-level CIAM and IAM frameworks, policies and reference architectures

  • Lead the Global Security Identity Workstream supporting our global security programme

  • Develop strategic identity roadmaps aligned to NIST CSF v2.0 maturity

  • Create trust and data models to support Zero Trust signal processing

  • Build threat models for internal, external and group identity management

  • Drive metrics and reporting on identity assurance across the Group

  • Deliver a Target Operating Model (TOM) and roadmap for our global IDP

  • Conduct current state assessments and align identity provision to strategic maturity goals

  • Support Market Unit identity teams with targeted work packages

  • Contribute to enterprise security architecture documentation

Skills and experience needed for this role:

  • Strategic leadership: Significant experience defining and leading enterprise approaches to identity and trust, and experience designing a holistic Identity strategy for a large and/or complex organisation.

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Recognised expertise in Identity and Trust with a deep knowledge of strategic identity and trust platforms, technologies and standards. Familiar with using a Zero Trust approach to Identity.

  • Identity Standards and Legislation: Proven experience leading IAM and digital trust strategy across complex environments, aligned with ISO 27001, NIST SP 800-63, GPG 44/45, eIDAS Regulation, and EU Digital Identity Wallet standards.

  • Roadmaps and Metrics: Experience developing identity roadmaps and supporting Metrics (KPI, KRI, KCI's) to ensure business is on track.

  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence executives/leadership.

  • Security Architecture and Assessment: Experience assessing the security identity requirements of complex systems.

  • Data Models: Experience with identity attribute models, entity management, agency and identity data flows.

  • Relevant Technologies: Experience with relevant Identity technologies, including but not limited to MS Entra, SailPoint, ForgeRock, CyberArk.

  • Customer and Enterprise Identity: Has experience of developing identity road maps for both enterprise and customer identity models.

  • Communication: Ability to communicate identity and trust as concepts and lead technical implementations of identity technologies.

  • Risk: Experience communicating risk to senior stakeholders and leading collaborative approaches to mitigation across multiple domains.
