Working as part of the Group Financial Crime team, the successful candidate will provide leadership, subject matter expertise, support and guidance for the continued implementation and strengthening of a robust framework to manage financial crime risks across Bupa.
How you'll help us make health happen:
As part of the Group Financial Crime team, take an active role in the implementation, maintenance and review of the financial crime risk control framework.
Provide subject matter expertise to MUs and Group functions in relation financial crime.
Support MUs and Group functions in building, maintaining, and updating relevant controls.
Provide strategic advice and support on financial crime related matters and supporting MUs on resolving financial crime related concerns.
Take an active role in increasing financial crime awareness across Bupa.
To develop and recommend changes to standard financial crime related guidance.
Monitor new developments in financial crime related regulation, trends, and enforcement and to update the Bupa businesses, and advise on policy changes and potential business impact.
Work closely with operational and commercial teams to deliver effective support and advice as a key team member in projects to further the strategic goals of Bupa.
Develop and align with the business, implementing financial crime strategies, policies and processes in order to mitigate risk for Bupa.
Provide an escalation point for complex technical queries and ensure their effective and commercially sound resolution.
Ensure that Bupa's name and reputation are protected.
Be a senior member of the global legal community of Bupa and having an active and valuable voice in that forum, to further the strategic goals of the global legal function and ensuring the community is a key contributor to Bupa's growth and success.
Credibility to develop strong relationships with senior stakeholders, teams and everyone around them, including strong communications skills and confidence to challenge effectively as appropriate.
Manage, coach, and mentor members of the Group Financial Crime team and global legal community.
Drive and influence a team environment where people love working at Bupa.
Demonstrated ability to deal with conflict and drive for results.
Operate ethically, in line with Bupa's Values and act as a role model for all elements of the Bupa Code.
Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:
Control testing, oversight and/or assurance experience gained in a 1st, 2nd or 3rd line operational, risk, compliance or audit role.
Extensive financial crime related, legal and/or regulatory knowledge, and broad experience in advising on highly sensitive issues, including the negotiation and drafting of a wide range of documentation.
Proven track record of regulatory advisory experience, influencing and increasing capabilities across teams, clients and/or stakeholders.
Experienced in managing relationships with regulatory or enforcement agencies, ideally having responded to regulatory requests and drafting communications to regulators.
Demonstrated ability to act with good judgment and discretion, including handling sensitive matters appropriately.
Considerable experience of making risk-based decisions in a complex operating environment with multiple competing demands.
Experienced in handling sensitive reputational matters, complex disputes and project managing complex projects is required.
Strong stakeholder management skills.
Exceptional commercial awareness.
Good change management skills.
Credible and tenacious, with a high attention to detail.
