We make health happen!
At Bupa, we're driven by a clear purpose: helping people live longer, healthier, happier lives and making a better world. Being a responsible business is at the heart of that mission and its foundational to the way we do business and to our environmental, social and governance (ESG) agenda. As our Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) Manager, you'll play a key role in shaping how we deliver on these commitments.
You'll be part of a team that's helping Bupa stay ahead of evolving ESG regulations, enhance transparency and quality in our disclosures, and prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chain. This is a chance to make a meaningful impact - not just within Bupa, but across the communities we serve.
How you'll help us make health happen:
Modern Slavery Programme
Monitor and analyse external developments related to Modern Slavery across UK and international Bupa markets.
Lead specific workstreams within Bupa's anti-slavery compliance programme, partnering with internal stakeholders and under the guidance of the Senior RBC Manager.
Draft and verify Bupa's annual UK Modern Slavery Statement, ensuring accuracy and alignment with legal standards.
Maintain governance documentation, including annual reviews of Bupa's Modern Slavery Act Statement Standard and the Terms of Reference for the Modern Slavery Working Group, and act as secretariat for the Modern Slavery Working Group.
Provide subject matter expertise on Modern Slavery due diligence queries and broader third-party risk management activities
Lead training and awareness initiatives to build organisational understanding of Modern Slavery and ESG, while contributing to enterprise-level improvements in how Bupa identifies, manages, and mitigates modern slavery risk.
Horizon Scanning
Track UK, EU and international ESG regulatory developments that may impact Bupa's operations and develop and deliver tailored horizon scanning updates to internal stakeholders, ensuring relevance to their focus areas.
Actively contribute to Bupa's "RBC Horizon Scanning" digital community, posting timely updates and engaging key stakeholders.
ESG Regulatory Preparedness
Support the RBC team in its work preparing Bupa for upcoming ESG regulations, including CSRD and CSDDD
Assist in the implementation of key steps within Bupa's ESG regulatory preparedness programme, contributing insights from horizon scanning and regulatory analysis.
Disclosure Enhancement
Support initiatives to improve the quality, transparency and consistency of Bupa's ESG disclosures.
Ensure strong governance and verification processes are in place to support enhanced ESG ratings.
Global Legal Community Engagement
Play an active role in Bupa's global legal community, contributing to the strategic goals of the legal function.
Promote cross-functional collaboration by identifying and implementing opportunities to connect teams and share insights.
Build and maintain trusted relationships with stakeholders across the business, acting with integrity and professionalism.
Skills & Experience needed for this role:
You'll have a Bachelor's degree or higher, and bring experience from working in large, complex organisations - ideally within Risk, Compliance, Legal or Sustainability teams.
You'll have significant experience navigating matrix structures and collaborating across functions to identify risks and develop practical, effective solutions that strengthen an approach to Responsible Business Conduct.
You'll be familiar with ESG reporting, particularly around modern slavery and human rights, and be comfortable preparing and verifying disclosures.
You'll have a solid understanding of ESG regulatory developments in the UK and internationally, and be skilled at translating complex, technical updates into clear, engaging insights for stakeholders.
You'll be naturally proactive and solutions-focused, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously while consistently delivering high-quality, well-considered outputs.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills are essential - you'll be building trusted relationships and influencing at all levels of the business.
