As a Trainee Commercial Accountant in our Operations Finance team, you'll play a crucial role in supporting the financial aspects of our Care Services business unit. You'll be part of a team that ensures effective delivery of our strategic agenda and three-year plan in the most cost-effective way. This role is perfect for a recent graduate or someone looking to start their career in finance, with study support available for professional accountancy qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and deliver relevant and timely periodic reporting to enable management teams to understand commercial performance against key levers and KPIs.
Assist in understanding the performance of Care Homes and Villages, helping to identify levers to optimize performance, including coaching non-finance colleagues.
Proactively investigate variances in expected financial performance to identify root causes and inform the team.
Support commercial reviews of Care Homes/Villages and assist operational staff in managing commercial performance.
Act as a point of contact for operational management teams for finance and commercial matters.
Assist in the preparation, appraisal, and analysis of business cases submitted for capital and/or revenue investment.
Key skills/qualifications needed for this role
Previous experience or education within Finance is required
Willingness to undertake study towards a professional accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACCA), with study support available.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt style depending on stakeholders needs
Effective in building relationships with teams outside of the department
Flexible, objective, and pragmatic, able to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities.
