We're looking for a Capital Analyst to join the Finance team at King Edward VII's Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of the capital expenditure process and play a key role in supporting investment decisions that help maintain and enhance our facilities, technology and patient services.

As a Capital Analyst, you'll manage the full capital lifecycle, from expenditure approvals and governance through to capitalisation, depreciation, reporting and project close-out. You'll work closely with Finance and operational stakeholders, providing expert guidance on capital accounting and ensuring investment decisions are supported by robust financial control and reporting.

This role is ideal for someone with strong capital accounting experience who enjoys combining technical expertise with stakeholder engagement, process improvement and business partnering.

How As a Capital Analyst, you will:

  • Own and manage the Capital Expenditure Request (CER) process, ensuring approvals, governance and controls are followed consistently.

  • Prepare capital expenditure summaries and reporting for review by senior leadership teams.

  • Review capital requests and provide guidance to budget holders on capital investment requirements and approval processes.

  • Lead monthly and year-end capital accounting activities, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and supported.

  • Apply appropriate accounting treatment to capital expenditure in line with IFRS accounting standards and company policies.

  • Own and maintain the Fixed Asset Register, ensuring it remains accurate, complete and reconciled to the general ledger.

  • Manage depreciation accounting, asset transfers, disposals and write-offs.

  • Produce monthly CAPEX reporting, forecasts and variance analysis for management and group reporting.

  • Support investment planning through financial analysis, forecasting and reporting.

  • Calculate and account for capitalisable project staff costs where appropriate.

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen controls, improve processes and enhance reporting you'll help us make health happen

Key Skills/Qualifications required for this role

We're looking for a Capital Analyst who can combine technical accounting expertise with strong analytical and stakeholder management skills.

  • Fully qualified accountant is required - please list your qualification on your application

  • Strong finance experience, with sound knowledge of capital accounting, CAPEX reporting, capital expenditure vs operating expenditure, and capitalisation principles.

  • Experience maintaining fixed asset registers and managing depreciation accounting.

  • Strong Excel skills and confidence producing reports and presentations for senior stakeholders.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively when required.

  • Experience with business cases, investment appraisals, financial modelling, Oracle, PeopleSoft or healthcare environments would be advantageous
