How You'll Help Us Make Health Happen
As a Medical Secretary, you'll be responsible for ensuring all reception and administrative activities are carried out efficiently and effectively while maintaining the highest standards of customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver an exceptional customer experience at every stage of the patient journey.
Welcome patients, visitors and consultants in a professional and friendly manner.
Manage appointment bookings, amendments, cancellations and patient registrations.
Handle incoming telephone calls, emails and enquiries efficiently and professionally.
Prepare and maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
Process payments, invoices and insurance information accurately.
Generate appointment letters and other patient correspondence.
Support the management of clinical results, scanning and administrative follow-up activities.
Manage incoming and outgoing post and deliveries.
Ensure reception and waiting areas remain clean, organised and welcoming.
Monitor and manage stock levels within the department.
Support audits, reporting requirements and operational processes.
Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative colleagues to deliver an excellent patient experience.
Key Skills / Qualifications
Essential
Previous experience in a Medical Secretary role.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively in a busy environment.
Professional and customer-focused approach.
GCSEs (or equivalent qualifications).
Desirable
Previous experience within a healthcare setting.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Audio typing experience.
Experience using healthcare systems such as Meddbase or Compucare.
