Salary: £70,000 a year + with fantastic benefits

As Operations Manager, you will be a key member of the Medical Director's Office and will be responsible for the day-of-day operational management of the medical workforce, ensuring the delivery of safe, compliant, cost-effective medical care.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The day-to-day operational management of the medical rotas (Resident Medical Officers and Consultants)
  • Ensuring that all Consultant contracts are issued every 3 years (On call rotas, Medical Advisory Board, Practicing Privileges Governance Committee and MDT Clinical Chairs)
  • Monitor, control and report on activity against expenditure, working with the Chief Medical Officer to ensure the delivery of balanced budgets
  • Support clinical teams in the delivery of safe, high-quality, cost-effective patient care
  • Ensure that the Medical Director's Office is compliant with the requirements of the Medical Practitioner's Assurance Framework and the Care Quality Commission
  • Support effective recruitment and selection of staff
  • Work closely with the CMO to develop an effective workforce plan including sickness absence
  • Work with the CMO to produce training and development plans for medical staff, which will realise the capabilities and personal development of staff to deliver the service plans and support staff to develop their personal abilities.
  • Deploy staffing resources, both human and financial, to ensure effective delivery of services
  • Assist the CMO in managing a specified budget and the effective use of resources and develop action plans to manage any adverse variances
  • Ensure adherence to Standing Financial Instructions and work with the Finance Business Partner and Procurement team in raising Purchase Orders

Key Experience / Qualifications & Skills needed for this role:

  • First degree or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development to postgraduate diploma equivalent
  • A proven track record of operational/service management
  • Experience of managing staff
  • Knowledge of IT Systems
  • Proven ability to problem solve and to achieve change, while at the same time balancing competing demands
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and summarise financial and other data
  • A proven capacity to balance competing demands to achieve local and Trust objectives
