Finance Risk and Controls Manager
Hybrid working with up to 4 days per week working from home
Salford Quays, Manchester or Angel Court, London
6 Month Fixed Term Contract
Salary range: £60K - £80K dependent upon experience
Full time 37.5 hours per week

About the area you'll be working in
The Finance Risk & Controls Manager plays a key part in driving forward and enhancing Bupa's Risk, Controls and Finance Governance Frameworks and assessment activities, whilst ensuring ongoing compliance with standards and guidance established by 2nd and 3rd line teams. As part of the first line (1LoD) Business unit Controls Function, you'll partner with Business Unit/Functions Finance Directors and Finance leads; supporting risk and control reviews and driving a risk aware and engaged culture.
What you'll be doing
Contribute as a member of the 1LoD BU Controls Function, together with your stakeholders, to ensure compliance with relevant Bupa Enterprise and Local Finance and Risk Management Policies, supporting annual assessment processes across MU/BU Finance teams.
Partnering with finance leaders in the identification, assessment and management of risks and development of controls from origination to accounting record, including guidance on changes to existing/new controls.
Lead departmental risk reviews with 1st line MU/BU finance stakeholders to assess risks and ensure appropriate action is taken to mitigate or accept risks.
Equipping finance management in understanding and monitoring the business risk profile, the status of control environment and in the management of issues and incidents.
Monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Continuous Controls Monitoring for Finance relevant enterprise policies.
Providing guidance and support for risk management initiatives, training, policy reviews and the use and deployment of risk systems and processes to facilitate risk management activities.
Prepare papers and participate in Financial Control, Risk & Assurance Committee (FCRAC) and Assurance Risk and Compliance Committee.
Support finance stakeholders to ensure policy and process documentation and the Governance Risk & Compliance system (SAI360) is up to date.
Prepare gap analysis and develop remediation logs for areas of non-compliance or deficiencies in the control environment, and support stakeholders in developing appropriate actions to address issues.
Build effective working partnerships with Group, 2nd and 3rd line teams.
Who we're looking for?
Qualified Accountant 5 years (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
Degree level education.
Insurance background and Governance, Risk & Compliance tools desired.
Proactive stakeholder management skills and the ability to build positive relationships and challenge the current position / status quo.
Excellent knowledge of Risk Management & Internal Control Frameworks with a proven record of delivery.
Financial and other risk analysis and problem-solving abilities.
A ‘can-do' attitude with the ability to summarise and communicate complex technical issues.
High level of integrity and trusted and respected by peers, colleagues.
Forward thinking and solution focused.
Excellent planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage own workload.
Self-motivated and driven with an energy and passion for driving outcomes through good risk and control management.
MS Office skills.
