Customers are at the heart of everything you do. You will have overall accountability and responsibility for your home. Utilising the strengths of your team ensuring that the home can provide well rounded quality care which meets the physical, emotional and social needs of your residents whilst supporting and maintaining wellness amongst your staff team.
To maintain and monitor compliance with Regulatory and National and Local Care standards using appropriate guidance including the Essential Standards of Quality and Safety and the Judgement Framework.
Deliver strong performance, leading on the commercials for your home to maintain the balance of delivering results, taking appropriate action with urgency, energy and positivity and managing risk making timely, good decisions to move the home forward.
Lead the home in line with the Bupa Values and Market Unit strategy. Be the registered manager for the site and be responsible for maintaining their own registration. Drive key accountability and responsibility from the roles in the home. Developing, coaching and guiding your team to high performance through the Bupa tools in place such as career conversations, on the job training and development workshops in a values led and engaging way.
To understand and manage commercial performance for the home in line with agreed targets which are delivered, with your guidance through the team of heads of department.
Ensure that any safeguarding and Infection Control measures are in place and are raised and escalated without delay on the digital platforms.
Take ultimate responsibility for the decision-making regarding suitability of admissions into the care home, taking guidance from your team and regional support, responding to any enquiries and blockages within set guidelines. Ensuring that the occupancy of the home is maintained and external relationships nurtured for future residents.
Truly understand customer wants, needs and desires through regular feedback sessions and audit monitoring. Creating and delivering action plans with and through your team in a timely manner.
Can effectively communicate in an assertive and positive manner with their team and take accountability for their actions and decisions.
Understand, work and manage within the legal standards and regulatory frameworks through established processes, policies and procedures for example Care Essentials, Medication Essentials and including the maintenance of Health and Safety within the Home, monitoring and providing professional support to senior staff /team leaders.
Manage the achievement of regulatory and legislative standards by monitoring and providing professional support to senior staff /team leaders.
Use appropriate in home and external guidance and support in taking accountability, understanding and managing customer expectations and when dealing with, documenting and investigating concerns and complaints.
Establish and maintain good strong interpersonal relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including local agencies to mobilise resources to meet resident needs and to support them in securing additional support as required.
Ultimate accountability for the marketing and promoting of the home whilst regularly and carefully monitoring competitor activity, keep abreast of innovative ideas in the care sector, can scope ideas from their team, where appropriate look to share and implement new ideas
Take accountability for the home when you are absent, managing your team to hold on call duties over annual leave periods, weekends and evenings.
Manage your working hours in line with the needs of the business including working weekends, evenings or nights where required.
Take overall accountability for the recruitment for the home, providing upskilling, coaching and support to line managers regarding policy and process, including conflicts of interest assessments. Ensuring robust management of conflicts of interests and annual review of assessments and action plans.
Take accountability for the welcoming, on boarding, on the job training and competency in line with Bupa Care Services Policies for all staff. Including ensuring new starters are buddied within the home.
Through understanding your key people metrics for your home including engagement, retention and attendance, plan and guide your team (utilising support from business partners) to build and take actions to make Bupa a great place to work.
To be responsible for delegating tasks as required.
Manage the performance, conduct and capability of employees in line with Bupa Values, policy and procedure, utilising regional support. Coach and support your direct Line managers to enable them to manage their own teams.
Be accountable for your team carrying out effective, timely, thorough and fair investigations within your care home and for other care homes when required. Being accountable for chairing disciplinary and grievance hearings in line with Bupa policy.
To lead by example when developing your direct team through providing timely, balanced, constructive feedback and holding career conversations, regular supervisions, appraisals and wellbeing meetings, ensuring your team are supporting and developing their own teams.
Regularly reviewing your home staff rotas to ensure full cover is provided at all times in line with agreements for your home.
Inspire an open customer service team culture by leading by example in treating people fairly and handling their concerns promptly and appropriately.
Support the building of a culture of trust and openness through role modelling Bupa values and Code.
You will be instrumental in your home team maintaining accurate, in the moment records in accordance with registration and legal requirements on the digital systems, for example comprehensive resident daily notes.
To lead and promote the benefits of staff meetings, discussing needs for staff training, ensuring mandatory training is planned and communicated by their team in good time to ensure attendance and compliance with targets.
Developing process and procedure for assisting, welcoming and training of new staff members, including utilising existing frameworks, such as buddies and building strong teamworking across the home.
To be respectful and courteous when dealing with staff, relatives and other public and professional people.
Role Model teamworking by undertaking any aspects of care or non-care duties, for example answering a call bell when passing a resident's room, supporting with resident activities, meal service etc.
You have a duty of care to whistle blow if you witness bad practice or harm to a resident or a colleague within the care home through our Speak Up service.
To assist in the maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment by ensuring adherence to Bupa Care Services Health & Safety and Welfare policies and procedures including the reporting of accidents.
To ensure that GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and company policy on confidentiality is upheld.
