Life after school and college exams
What now?
After many of us spend our childhood in school and college, working towards our GCSE and A level grades, the options after receiving exam results can be overwhelming; where should I go, what should I do?
If you didn’t receive the grades you were predicted or hoping to get, don’t fret! Your school grades don’t define who you are - you have lots of options!
Options for 16+ year olds:
- Stay in full-time education to complete your A-level/ T-levels or other academic qualifications.
- Work or volunteer for 20 hours or more a week while in part-time education or training.
- Apprenticeships are a great option to begin your career. You'll work and get paid whilst doing off the job training at the same time. Here is our current apprenticeship scheme in our dental business: Dental Nurse Apprenticeship
Options for 18+ year olds:
- Higher Education
- Gap year
- Start your own business
- Apprenticeship
- A career with Bupa
Here are some examples of career paths you could consider at Bupa when you reach 18 years old.
How do I know if a role is right for me?
Knowing whether a job role is the right fit for you can be tricky but is important in helping you find a job you enjoy and a company which is the right fit for you. Start by asking yourself some questions.
- What do I enjoy?
- What key skills do I have that I could use in my future job?
- What kind of company do I want to work for?
- What kind of environment do I want to work in?
- What do the career paths look like?
- What are the company’s values, and do they align with my own?
- What progression opportunities does the company offer?
