Kurtis's success story
Kurtis wholeheartedly recommends apprenticeships at Bupa, saying, "100% I would recommend an apprenticeship with Bupa." His positive experience has inspired him to further his development, and he continues to mentor others.
Senior Estates Manager - Kurtis, embarked on Bupa’s Leader Foundation Apprenticeship driven by his curiosity and desire to upskill. "I’m always keen to learn new skills and ‘add strings to my bow’," he says. Upon discovering the diverse courses in the Bupa prospectus, he eagerly signed up for a leadership course to challenge himself and hone his people management skills.
His apprenticeship was a blend of online learning and hands-on experience. During his apprenticeship, Kurtis was given the responsibility of managing the reception team at our Bristol Bupa Dental Care support centre, applying his newfound knowledge in real-world scenarios.
The course was transformative, helping Kurtis navigate and resolve conflicts, which led to improved team performance. Balancing his workload and a busy home life was no small feat, but with the support of his line manager, he found time to stay on top of his studies.
The apprenticeship was a revelation for Kurtis, highlighting his strengths and areas for improvement. It broadened his horizons and deepened his understanding of management. "It has made me much more aware of how I handle challenges and how my actions, behaviour, and communication can be interpreted," he explains. These skills have been invaluable in his role as Senior Estates Manager, where he now leads a small team of professionals.
By the end of the course, Kurtis felt a sense of pride in balancing his responsibilities and completing the apprenticeship. The experience reshaped his approach to managing people and inspired him to focus on leadership and mentoring. He even enrolled in a coaching apprenticeship to further develop his skills.
