Our online learning platform has various optional modules to help you in your role, plus on-the-job coaching and support from your manager.

From apprenticeships to specialist roles, we set goals, regularly check in on progress, and review achievements – that’s how we thrive. Learning and development at your own pace – because everyone’s journey is unique!

Apprenticeships

An apprenticeship is a skills development program you can complete while working, allowing you to ‘earn while you learn’.

As a learner, you’ll experience a mix of on-the-job training and formal off-the-job learning. You’ll have opportunities to apply your new skills in a real work environment. Investing in our people is really important to us at Bupa. Helping your development will help you succeed in your role and support our customers.

We offer apprenticeships at six levels, from Foundation to Advanced. They’re a great way to enhance your skills in your current role or explore a new career.

We partner with the best training providers, so you can be sure you’ll have the most up-to-date, relevant knowledge and practice. All programs are industry-recognised, and our internal support team will be with you every step of the way as you study.

Secondments

A secondment is used to move a permanent Bupa employee from one position to another within the business temporarily.

We offer secondments when we need an existing employee to:

  • Deliver a project or a specific piece of work.
  • Provide temporary cover for a defined period (e.g., maternity cover, long-term absence).

The maximum time you can be on secondment is 12 months. Afterward, you’ll return to your contracted role unless you’ve made a different arrangement with your hiring manager.

Secondments are a great way to get outside of your comfort zone and try something new!

Performance - Unstoppable conversations

We want to give everyone the opportunity to be at their best because everyone contributes to delivering an outstanding experience for our customers and achieving our ambition.

To achieve this, we need to work together and create an environment where everyone talks honestly and often about their performance.

At Bupa, our performance approach centers on regular, meaningful conversations that help us improve. We call these unstoppable conversations – regular discussions focused on the things that matter most in enhancing performance.

The cycle includes quarterly conversations focused on goal review and adjustment, indicative ratings, feedback, growth, and development. Monthly one-to-one meetings occur between these discussions and are opportunities to discuss progress, feedback, any barriers, and wellbeing.
