Job Title: SME Marketing Manager
Salary: £53,900 - £60,000 per annum DOE + fantastic benefits
Location status: Hybrid (flexible working options available)
Location: Salford, Bupa Place
Permanent/fixed term contract: 12 month FTC / Secondment
Shift pattern: Full‑time 37.5hrs

Are you an experienced marketer looking to make a real commercial impact? We're looking for a Marketing Manager to help shape and deliver our SME marketing strategy for the UK Insurance business. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead high‑profile acquisition activity, drive measurable business growth, and manage a talented team within a fast‑moving, customer‑focused environment.

About the Role

As our Marketing Manager, you'll work closely with the Senior Marketing Manager to develop and deliver the SME marketing plan across the APC framework (Awareness, Preference, Conversion). You'll play a key role in accelerating the growth of our SME Direct business, taking full ownership of lead generation and performance optimisation.

You'll constantly look for ways to improve key marketing metrics - including cost per lead, cost per acquisition and conversion - and you'll lead the strategies and workstreams that drive these improvements. This role also involves team leadership, cross‑functional collaboration, agency management and ensuring that our marketing approach delivers a strong return on investment.

What You'll Be Doing

Commercial & Performance

  • Own the lead‑generation strategy, programme and channel mix.
  • Lead media planning, trading, and optimisation to maximise efficiency across all channels.
  • Drive the planning and delivery of campaigns, incentives and creative to effectively convert high‑priority audiences.
  • Lead, develop and motivate a team of marketers to achieve excellence and deliver commercial results.
  • Deliver high‑quality marketing activity across traditional and digital channels throughout the APC framework.
  • Support sales performance with strong retargeting programmes across email, social and digital display.
  • Partner closely with the SME engagement team to optimise acquisition journeys and funnel performance.
  • Monitor and report on campaign performance, sharing KPIs and insights with senior stakeholders.
  • Manage agency relationships to deliver impactful, on‑brand marketing campaigns.
  • Support Salesforce‑driven journeys to improve lead quality, conversion rates and CPL over time.
  • Collaborate with Commercial, Finance, Brand and Data teams to ensure plans align with forecasts, trading priorities and cost boundaries.
  • Contribute to other commercial levers including outbound activity, proposition updates and digital quote‑and‑buy improvements.
  • Manage the marketing budget responsibly and efficiently.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong B2B marketing experience, ideally from Financial Services or Professional Services.
  • Proven ability to influence and manage internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience working effectively within complex, matrixed organisations.
  • Solid understanding of CRM, lead generation and marketing technology platforms.
  • An analytical mindset with evidence of using data and insight to shape marketing strategy.
  • Demonstrated success in managing and developing a marketing team.
  • A proactive, creative thinker who brings new ideas and challenges the status quo.
  • Commercially minded with a track record of delivering measurable ROI.
  • Able to quickly action and implement new initiatives.
