We make health happen

At Bupa, we're here to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives – and make a better world. As a global healthcare leader with no shareholders, our focus is always on our customers and the communities we serve.

As an Application Support Developer, you'll play a key role in ensuring our systems run smoothly and our users get the support they need. You'll be the go-to technical expert for resolving complex IT issues, developing solutions, and helping others grow their technical skills. This is a hands-on role where you'll work across a variety of technologies, support critical systems, and help shape how we deliver IT services across Bupa Global.

If you're passionate about problem-solving, enjoy working with a wide range of technologies, and want to make a real difference in a purpose-driven organisation, this could be the role for you.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you'll:

  • Act as the technical authority across your domains, keeping your skills up to date and sharing knowledge with others.
  • Support and mentor colleagues, helping them grow their technical expertise.
  • Design and develop secure, high-performing solutions – either directly or by guiding third-party developers.
  • Resolve IT incidents and events in line with SLAs, escalating where needed.
  • Investigate root causes of recurring issues and implement long-term fixes.
  • Understand business needs and deliver effective technical solutions for IT requests.
  • Support the onboarding of new IT systems, ensuring they're reliable and supportable.
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders and internal customers, keeping them informed and supported.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve issues and improve services.
  • Participate in change control and implementation activities.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who's technically skilled, collaborative, and ready to make an impact. You'll bring:

  • A degree-level background in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • ITIL Foundation certification (or higher) and experience working within an ITIL framework.
  • Experience in an IT application support role.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills – you're confident working with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring peers or junior colleagues.
  • A broad understanding of technologies and frameworks.

You'll also have expertise in one of the following areas:

  • Development technologies: Azure, SOAP/REST, C#, MVC, ASP.NET Web Forms, SQL, JQuery, JavaScript, HTML & CSS
    or
  • Database technologies: PL/SQL, T-SQL, Oracle Reports, SSIS/SSAS/SSRS

Experience working in a matrix-managed environment with contractors and outsourced vendors is a plus.
