Meet Andrei

Andrei is one of our chefs. He will show you what a typical day looks like working in one of our care homes.

Andrei and his team are famous with our residents for their delicious Sunday roast dinners and traditional fish and chips.

They are a lovely team and relish the opportunity to go above and beyond for our residents. He loves a game of five-a-side with the other employees, and we’re happy to support him with his studies at university while working for us.

Our
kitchen brigade

Working in our care homes is a role like no other. Working in the kitchen is a key component in the wellbeing of our residents. It involves everything from creating menus to catering for special events. Our roles include:

 

  • Chef Manager
  • Assistant / 2nd Chef
  • Kitchen Assistant

 

Chef Manager

The role

Our fantastic Kitchen Team is the magic behind each delicious dish we serve our guests. They are passionate about all things food and take great pride in each dish they prepare.

Chef Managers lead the kitchen brigade to deliver an excellent dining experience for our residents. They manage the day to day running of the kitchen, shape our menu's and ensure our Chefs / Kitchen Assistants are continously learning and developing their skillset.

Responsibilities

  • Using your passion for cooking and experience in a fresh food kitchen to  create a varied and nutritional menu in line with the dietary needs and preferences of our residents
  • Using your natural leadership skills to train and mentor the kitchen team to deliver an excellent dining experience
  • Being innovative in your approach to cooking and maintaining high standards
  • Managing all mandatory paperwork including: adhering to COSHH and HACCP guidelines, company policies and procedures, budgets, managing orders and deliveries
  • Catering for special events or seasonal activities, such as summer fetes, Christmas parties and birthdays (as required)

2nd Chef / Assistant Chef

Chefs help create and deliver an excellent dining experience for our residents.

Responsibilities

  • Using your passion for cooking and fresh ingredients to create varied and nutritional menus in line with dietary needs and preferences of our residents
  • Putting forward ideas to deliver an excellent dining experience, helping our residents to feel at home
  • Training and managing the kitchen team in prepping, cooking and serving of food
  • Adhering to COSHH and HACCP guidelines, company policies and procedures, budgets, managing orders and deliveries
  • Catering for special events or seasonal activities, such as summer fetes, Christmas parties and birthdays (as required)

Kitchen Assistant

The role

Our fantastic Kitchen Team is the magic behind each delicious dish we serve our guests. They are passionate about all things food and take great pride in each dish they prepare.

Responsibilities

  • Acting as the link between the main kitchen and our residents

  • Assisting the chefs to plate meals, prepare food trolleys and ensure all preparation areas are kept clean and tidy

  • Monitoring stock rotation, complying to company policies and procedures following all mandatory COSHH and HACPP guidelines

  • Assisting with catering for special events such as summer BBQs and Christmas parties

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

A passion for food with previous experience working in a kitchen and a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.

You want to deliver an excellent service at each meal and make our residents feel at home. You’ll understand the importance of maintaining high standards in and around the home, ensuring our residents enjoy a pleasant dining experience.

Working with the wider kitchen and care home teams - you’re comfortable communicating with others, cherishing the little moments with our residents.
