When Harrison first heard about the opportunity to be a placement student, he saw more than just a stepping stone into the world of finance — he saw a chance to make a real difference. Fresh into his 2nd year at university, armed with theory and ambition, Harrison joined Bupa Care Services as a Finance Analyst, ready to turn numbers into impact. 

“I wanted to apply what I’d learnt at university in a place that genuinely cares about making the world better,” Harrison shares. “Bupa stood out because it’s involved in so many industries and markets — it felt like the perfect place to grow.” 

From weekly reporting for Richmond Villages and Care Homes to supporting Finance Business Partners with ad hoc projects, Harrison quickly found himself immersed in meaningful work. “It’s motivating to know my work matters.” 

His week is a blend of office and remote working — three days surrounded by a supportive team, two days of quiet productivity at home. “The office is such a welcoming space. You learn so much just by being around others. Everyone’s happy to help, and that makes a huge difference.” 

But it’s not just about the spreadsheets. Harrison’s time at Bupa has sharpened his presentation skills, boosted his time management, and helped him grow professionally in ways he never expected. “I’ve developed both technical and soft skills that I’ll take back to university and into my career. It’s been a brilliant transition from student life to the working world.” 

Now, Harrison’s looking ahead. He’s applying to return on Bupa’s graduate scheme, excited by the opportunity to study for his ACA qualification while exploring different areas of finance through three, one-year rotations. “The support from my team and the early careers team has been amazing. I can see a clear career path here.”
