This June, Bupa Care Homes marks its 40th anniversary. Since opening its first care home in Milton Keynes in 1985, we’ve grown into one of the UK’s leading providers of residential and nursing care.
Today, Bupa operates 115 care homes and 10 residential villages, supporting over 6,000 residents with a workforce of around 10,000 people, including apprentices who are building meaningful careers in care.
Our journey has been driven by a commitment to high-quality, compassionate care and a deep understanding of the evolving needs of an ageing population. As we look to the future, we’re focused on becoming more innovative, digitally advanced, and sustainable – with a goal of reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2040.
People are at the heart of everything we do. Caring for our residents requires a committed workforce and it’s more important than ever to support our teams’ mental, physical and financial wellbeing. Listening to their feedback shapes our wellbeing strategy- whether through new technology to ease workloads, fostering a sense of belonging, or tailoring benefits and career development.
As we celebrate this milestone, we reflect on our journey from a single home in Milton Keynes to a nationwide network dedicated to providing world class care. Bupa Care Homes looks ahead with a continued focus on enhancing quality of life for residents, driven by innovation, sustainability and a dedicated team.
